The outstanding natural beauty of Cheddar’s Caves and Gorge has been a major tourist attraction for over 200 years. The cathedral-like caves and Britain’s biggest Gorge are million-year-old Ice age river beds that ran through what is now the coastal town of Somerset. The caves and gorge are also home to many rare species as well as the world famous Cheddar Man, Britain’s oldest complete skeleton and are found just a 30 minutes drive from Pontin’s Brean Sand Holiday Centre.

If you are feeling active, you can get involved with the Rock Sport Adventure Activities or climb the 274 steps of Jacobs Ladder where each step represents a million years of the Earth’s history! If you are not feeling so adventurous, sit back as you set sail on a voyage of discovery on an open-top boat that runs down a million year old riverbed, or even hop aboard the open-top tour bus that runs from March until October, where you can reach out and almost touch the cliffs.
Thinking about food? A picnic above the pinnacles is included in the 3 mile gorge walk that takes you across the tops of Britain’s highest inland cliffs, or order a bit to eat at the Explorers Café-Bar at the end of your
caving adventure.
